Project management for an innovative, renewable, UPS system for servers and critical energy systems at the main CATA facility.  The project utilized Federal Transit Authority funds and complied with all applicable Buy America and prevailing wage requirements.

TURNERS FALLS HYDRO, LLC  1 MW HYDROELECTRIC
MONTAGUE, MA

Representation of hydro company challenging excessive real and property tax assessments in a local abatement proceeding and before the State's Appellate Tax Board.  Also, negotiation and finalization of a federal, 3-party, interconnection agreement with Capacity Network Interconnection Service relating to the placing and closing of a long-term Power Purchase Agreement with a credit-worthy counterparty.

INDIAN RIVER POWER SUPPLY, LLC  1.45 MW HYDROELECTRIC
RUSSELL, MA

Legal representation for Company that built a new hydro-plant at an existing dam on the Westfield River.  Activities included financial closings with individual investors, the SBA's 504 Program and a commercial bank; federal-level interconnection with ISO New England and the transmission owner; attaining a 1603 Grant is Lieu of Federal tax credits under IRC 45 &48; placing and closing a long-term Power Purchase Agreement and myriad other legal tasks.

WORONOCO HYDRO, LLC  2.7 MW HYDROELECTRIC 
RUSSELL, MA

Legal representation for a Company that enhanced output for its hydro plant.  Our tasks included achieving Low Impact Hydropower Institute Certification and qualifying the output for the Massachusetts Renewable Portfolio Standard; acquiring state (Massachusetts Clean Energy Center) and federal (section 1603) grants; placing and closing a long-term Power Purchase Agreement and prosecuting litigation for unpaid electric supply bills from a behind-the-fence customer.

Project management and Consulting relating to the financing, construction and operation of the largest PV array in New England (when it was built in 2005) a 147 KW array atop the roof and in the courtyard of a historic mill building located in Fitchburg, MA. Representative tasks include grant management with multiple federal and state funders, troubleshooting utility interconnection, and Massachusetts Historical Commission review.

Project management, including permitting and grant funding management relating to the rehabilitation of a dam and 100 KW hydropower facility as part of the conversation of an old mill building into 35 units of housing.

BUZZARDS BAY, MA

Peer reviewer of the MMA's technical and funding proposal to the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative relating to its efforts to install a Vestas V47 (660 KW) wind-driven turbine generator on a 50-meter tower to provide electricity to its facilities in Buzzard's Bay.

Energy consulting and project management in the mill owner's on-going efforts to rehabilitate its existing 2 MW on-site hydropower installation.

Peer Reviewer of I.B.E.W.'s proposal to the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative leading to the installation of Boston's first commercial-scale wind-drive turbine generator in May 2005.

2004 DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL CONVENTION 250 KW FUEL CELL
BOSTON, MA

Led successful efforts, as part of the Coalition for Environmentally Responsible Conventions' Energy Team, to temporarily site & operate a 250 KW molten carbonate fuel cell to provide site power as well as to implement myriad environmental measures during the 2004 DNC.

RIVERDALE MILLS GRANT WRITING 600 KW HYDRO DEVELOPMENT

Provided proposal authoring services leading to the acquisition of a $577,500 grant to support the costs associated with renovating and upgrading the manufacturing facility's hydroelectric generating systems.

Awarded and oversaw a $324,000 grant to a social services not-for-profit to enable it to undertake a green building project and re-permit and restore its 60 kw on-site hydropower facility.

ARTISTS FOR HUMANITY 45 KW PV AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY
BOSTON, MA

Awarded and oversaw a $500,000 grant to support the design and construction of a demonstration, near zero-energy green building featuring photovoltaic power and numerous energy efficiency features.

CAMBRIDGE CITY HALL ANNEX PV & GROUND-SOURCE HEAT PUMPS
CAMBRIDGE, MA

Oversaw scope, schedule & budget issues associated with the inclusion of ground-source heat pumps, displacement ventilation systems, photovoltaic panels and myriad energy efficiency features in this green, public building.

Awarded and oversaw a $361,515 grant to the Trustees of Reservations to enable them to build their new LEED-rated green headquarters in Leominster, MA. The building features PV-powered systems and site lighting as well as numerous energy efficiency and green features.

URBAN EDGE CDC 63 KW PV AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY
EGLESTON CROSSING
BOSTON, MA

Awarded and oversaw a $500,000 grant to a CDC constructing a mixed affordable housing and commercial project featuring myriad energy efficiency and green features as well as 63 KW of photovoltaic panels leading to an energy savings of over 50% for the project.

GENZYME CENTER PV, DAY-LIGHTING, VENTILATION
CAMBRIDGE, MA

Oversaw scope, schedule and budget relating to the use of a $321,750 grant to include photovoltaic power in a state-of-the-art LEED-Platinum certified 12-story office tower.

I.B.E.W. LOCAL 103 EDUCATION & TRAINING 5.3 KW PV & DVD VIDEO
BOSTON, MA

Administered a $50,000 grant leading to the creation of a professional training video, the implementation of a PV-installation curriculum, and the construction of a 5.3 KW PV system atop the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 103 continuing education facility in Boston, MA.

EAST BOSTON CDC - MAVERICK GARDENS 40.8 KW PV & 75 KW CHP
BOSTON, MA

Awarded and oversaw a $477,675 grant to enable the inclusion of a significant on-site power generation using photovoltaic panels and a small combined heat and power system in a model redevelopment project led by the East Boston CDC, the Boston Housing Authority and Trinity Financial, Inc.

M.A.T.C.H. SCHOOL FOUNDATION 20 KW PV AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY
BOSTON, MA

Oversaw use of a $491,530 grant to enhance the energy efficiency of the Media and Technology Charter High School with high-efficiency lighting, high-performance windows, and a 20 KW roof-top PV system among other green upgrades.

MITRE CORPORATION ROOFTOP & BUILDING-INTEGRATED PV
BEDFORD, MA

Administered a $415,000 grant to enable the MITRE Corporation design and construct a LEED-rated office building with numerous energy efficiency and green features including a 16.5 KW roof-top PV array and a 12.5 KW PV array integrated into the buildingÕs entrance canopy.

MT. WACHUSETT COMMUNITY COLLEGE BIOMASS HEATING & POWER
GARDNER, MA

Awarded and oversaw a $750,000 grant which was used by the College in conjunction with innovative financing from the Massachusetts Division of Capital Asset Management and NORESCo (an energy services company) to retrofit a bio-fueled hydronic heating and electric generation beta test-site facility at its campus in Gardner, MA. This project won an Institute for High Education Bellweather Award from National Community College Futures Assembly.

NEW ENGLAND WILDLIFE CENTER PV & BIO-FUELED CHP
WEYMOUTH, MA

Administered a $369,287 grant to enable the respected wildlife surgical hospital to build a new state-of-the-art green facility featuring a green roof, 25 KW of photovoltaic panels and a bio-fueled system for combined heat and power.

NORTH ADAMS PUBLIC LIBRARY PV & GROUND-SOURCE HEAT PUMPS
NORTH ADAMS, MA

Awarded and oversaw a $175,553 grant to Library Trustees to enable them to add energy efficiency features, a ground-source heating and cooling system, and 12 KW of photovoltaic panels to their library addition and renovation project.

LAWRENCE COMMUNITYWORKS CDC 8 KW PV & ENERGY EFFICIENCY
LAWRENCE, MA

Lawrence CommunityWorks is rehabilitating a blighted building into a LEED-Gold rated community adult and youth education center that will feature 8 KW of photovoltaic panels and numerous energy efficiency features leading to reduction in overall energy needs by 47%.

RURAL DEVELOPMENT CDC 1 KW PV & ENERGY EFFICIENCY
FRANKLIN COUNTY

Rural Development builds 12-15 homes per year for the low- to moderate-income markets in rural Franklin County. The $67,000 grant enabled the organization to cut each home's energy needs by 50% with green design and construction strategies and include 1 KW of photovoltaic panels on 4 demonstration homes.

TUFTS UNIVERSITY ROOFTOP & BUILDING-INTEGRATED PV
SOMERVILLE, MA

Awarded and oversaw a $500,000 grant to enable Tuft's University to include both 32 KW of rooftop photovoltaic panels and a building integrated photovoltaic curtain wall, in addition to a solar hot water system and other energy efficiency upgrades as part of the school's solar dormitory.

WOODS HOLE RESEARCH CENTER 26.4 KW PV AND 100 KW WIND
FALMOUTH, MA

Administered a total of $500,000 in two grants to enable this internationally recognized research institution to install 26.4 KW of photovoltaic panels and a 100 KW wind-driven turbine generator as a model green project with zero net energy use.


ADDITIONAL RENEWABLE ENERGY TRUST PROJECTS

Administered and oversaw the preparation of numerous feasibility studies assessing the viability of renewable energy, energy efficiency and green building features working in concert.

Wrote and issued numerous Requests for Proposals and evaluated responses in myriad renewable energy programs relating to Green Power, Green Schools, and Green Buildings.
